The long struggle by the University of Port Harcourt to establish a Faculty of Law has new finally paid off as the Council of Legal Education has recently approved admission of students into the Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree programme in Uniport.
A statement by the Registrar, Mrs. Dorcas Otto, a copy of which was made available to UniPortWeekly, confirmed that: “The Faculty of Law of the University of Port Harcourt is now ready to admit students beginning with the 2017/2018 Academic Session,” advising prospective candidates to select the University in the forthcoming Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Examination.
Consequently, prospective candidates wishing to enroll into the Law Degree programme of the University are, therefore, advised to choose the Institution in the on goingUniversity Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Further details would be made available on the University’s website at: www.uniport.edu.ng. Candidates are also advised to listen to Radio UniPort 88.5 FM for more information on the new development.
I write to inform you that the 38th Matriculation Ceremony for 2016/2017 First year Students has been scheduled to take place as specified below:
Date: Thursday, 20th April,2017
Venue: Convocation Arena, University Park
There will be an academic procession by members of Senate. All Matriculants are to be seated at 8.30a.m and are expected to be very orderly. Photograph taking inside the arena will not be allowed.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL MATRICULANTS
You are required
i. to print out the copy of the matriculation Pledge online, which you will sign after taking the oath at the Convocation Arena and return same to the College Secetary/Faculty officer after the ceremony.
ii. proceed to your College/Faculty/School with the Receipt of payment of School Charges to collect the academic outfit from your (From Tuesday, 11th – Tuesday 18th April, 2017), College Secetary/Faculty Officer. Please note that a refund of #1000 (One Thousand Naira) shall be made to you at the College/Faculty/School Finance Office, on return of the outfit in good condition. Note also that no money shall be paid to the College/ Faculty/ School for any other service or document.
iii. return the academic gown after the Matriculation Ceremony and complete the necessary Forms for refund of the sum of #1000 (One Thousand naira). This should be done not later than Tuesday, 25 April, 2017.
iv. Contact the College Secetary, CCE for the collection and return of academic outfit.
